SMARTLAB is inviting up to 100 building owners and occupants to participate in the project, giving them free sensors to install in their buildings and providing free expert analysis of how energy efficient their building currently is. Participants will also get advice on what can be done to make their buildings cheaper and more sustainable to run.

At the same time, the SMARTLAB project team will learn about how using smart technology impacts the participants in the project, how Limerick buildings manage energy, and how healthy they are for inhabitants.

SMARTLAB – A Sensing Year

Your sensors will be installed and collecting data for one year. This is important, as it will give you (and us) data on a full range of seasonal temperatures and weather fluctuations to measure. As well as learning about your building, the SMARTLAB project team will be asking you if the sensors and the information they provide are making any difference to you. Below is an example of what it might look like once your sensors are installed and you become a SMARTLAB participant:

For the project team, your insights and feedback will form the basis of our research. We want to learn about your lived experience of smart technology, and we’ll be gathering those insights to make recommendations to the local and national government about the energy transition in Ireland.
